I got answers back pretty quick and decided to make the purchase on December 29. On December 28 I contacted Shift about the car and asked some questions. There weren’t many reviews of Shift, and none that were really good, but I decided to roll the dice and give it a shot. There were certainly a few that I was tempted with (I even considered getting one and factoring in the cost to get the car painted) but finally one popped up on Shift that hit all the marks. I signed up for Carvana, CarMax, CarGurus, and Shift. It also needed to be blue, I didn’t like any of the other colors. I was also interested in the Premier version since it has a lot of safety feature add-ons. I wanted the second-generation version (2016 to 2019). I was fairly picky with what I wanted, first off I wanted one with low miles so there would still be plenty of miles left on the Voltec warranty (10 years / 100K miles). A few months ago I was curious what used ones were selling for and saw that they really weren’t that expensive. I was sad when they decided to discontinue it. I’ve been wanting a Chevy Volt since they announced it, but while it was new it was always outside my price range. Also, Arizona allows third party companies to do DMV things like title and registration, all of the locations I went to were third party ones because the actual MVD is difficult to get into at the moment) (Side note: in Arizona we use MVD instead of DMV, I’m going to use DMV in this post because that’s what everyone else calls them. The car is great and the delivery went fine, there was some frustrating with the documentation but most of that was due to a very picky DMV location. TL DR I give the whole experience a B grade.
